Spring Semester 2009
Hello Everyone! I was so excited to see so many friends and family over
the Christmas break. If I didn’t get to see you, I wish you all the best for this NEW YEAR! For me it was more than
just a new year, it was another year older too. That’s right……I’m now 19! Yet, I am sure most would
agree, I still don’t act like it due to that I love Hannah Montana and Disney Princesses J.
What can I say…..college hasn’t changed me to terrible much! I do feel a bit brighter though, and have a feeling
after 20 hours worth of classes this semester I will be significantly more educated than the 18 year old Lana Luise.
I was upset
to hear about my roommate moving out as soon as I returned, BUT with a little help of me begging and pleading (just kidding)
student housing let one of my best friends, Sarah Katherine (also known as Sakay), move in next to me! So I will no longer
have to spend half my day climbing steps to the forth floor to ask a question or give her something….she is right next
door! Love it! I just found out today I made the Liturgical Dance Team once again and still have a few more auditions ahead
of me.
As far as my sorority goes, we haven’t had anything huge lately except elections for 2009. I was elected as Director
of Alumni. I will be keeping the Alpha Phi alumni updated with events and the girls, as well as host an Alumni party on founders
day next Fall. So far I have enjoyed and really love my sorority and couldn’t be more glad I joined.
I hope you
had a fantastic New Years and I wish you all the best!

The Regatt and My First Performance
I
am excited and proud to say I performed my first performance today as a dancer representing Oklahoma City University. The
Liturgical dance team I am on performed at the Oklahoma City Regatta. The Regatta is a huge event in Oklahoma. People and
schools come from all over for a Rowing Competition on Lake Hefner. I volunteered last night in a sales booth, and performed
their early this morning. I admit at 8am this morning there was not a huge crowd, but it was very rewarding and a great experience.
The wind was blowing and making the spiritual routine even more beautiful with a wonderful surrounding. Take a look at the
pictures on my “Current Events” page. I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. Miss Ellis County 2009 will be
crowned tonight. I am sorry I cannot make it, but am happy to know Jennifer will be there to pass on my title. Best Wishes
to the new Miss Ellis County!

So Far So Good
So far I am hanging
in there with managing school, dance team, friends, and the Alpha Phi sorority. I am enjoying everything as well! My friends
are great! I have become so close to several girls in my sorority house and outside of it. Two girls who have been on my side
and there for me since I got here are Megan and Dita. We are all three dance majors and have almost identical schedules. That
is simple a blessing we have all three enjoyed. We are each good about helping on another wake up in time, get to class on
time, and remember what we have for homework or when to study.
Tomorrow morning I find out who my Alpha Phi Big Sis is. This is a
HUGE deal and I am extremely excited about it, as are the rest of my sisters. We have been waiting a month for this day. Then
after we unite with our Big (at 7am in the morning), we spend the day hanging out and getting to know her. Then tomorrow night,
we party at Victory! It’s a big dance/party the Alpha Phi’s hold. I absolutely can’t wait and am counting
down the minutes till I find out who my big!
I have a few more weeks before I come up, but can’t wait to see my family and friends.
I have
lot’s of fun pictures from my first month here, under my current events page. Feel free to take a look and/or leave
me a message.

American Spirit Dance Team
One Week down and many to go! I finished my first week at OCU! I have to admit, I am having a blast! Yes, i know....it proabably
won't stay this way, but for now I am excited and loving how things are going! By Friday I was ready for a rest, but a
three day weekend took care of that. I made the American Spirit Dance Company and Lutergical dance team. That means I will
be in the Home for the Holiday's Dance Show held Dec. 11th-14th, and perform with the Lutergical dance team at the schools
Chapel services and churches around Oklahoma.
If you are interested in attending the Home for the Holiday's show,
call 405-208-5227. You won't regret it. It is known to be sold out within the frst few weeks to be on sale, so act fast
if you want a ticket!

Alpha Phi....Yep, That's Me!
So far things are going well for me as a new college student. It is tough, but it's also fun and new. I have been auditioning
and leveling ALL week. I have auditions for 3 company's and 2 shows tonight. I start auditions at 4pm and won't be
done till 11pm. Yeah! As I said, NOT EASY.
I did rush last week though and believe it or not, without even knowing
it, I am going to follow in my Oma'a footsteps. I am an Alpha Phi! The minute I took a step in the Alpha Phi house I knew
I was home. It wasn't till after I started praying to get a bid into the house that I found out my Oma was one herself.
I have 6 weeks till I get my pin, but it will be a fun six weeks of getting to know girls and the house. Lot's of Fun
and excitement!
My dorm is great! I am hoping to have some pictures up soon. In the mean time, check out my new
Phi sisters on Current Events!
Thank You for your support!
Always,
Lana Luise

College
It's almost that time. I have only one weekend left before I leave for Oklahoma, but I do have a week and about 4 days
left. Things are coming togather. I have my book almost read (yes, i had summer reading...ALREADY!), and packing is becoming
easier since my room is FINALLY picked up a little. I got into the new dorms at Oklahoma City. The old dorms were already
nicer than most dorms I have ever seen, but the new one's are extremely nice. I have a room to my self, but have 4 suite
mates. To give you a little example of how nice they are, I have a FULL size bed....IN A FRESHMAN DORM!
Anyway,
enough about me. Here some really exciting news. Sarah Mason "champed up" in the USTA Junior tournaments! She has
spent the summer going from tennis camp to tennis camp, and it really payed off. She not only "champed up," but
she also won the Berry Creek tournament! Mason's birthday is also around the corner. August 13th. She is turning 12! So
if you run into her give her a big congrats for her many summer accomplishments.
Check out the Current Events
page to see Sarah Mason as a new USTA "champ!"

Miss Texas
Miss Texas has come and gone. I am a non-finalist talent winner! I had so much fun and truly learned a lot between preparing
for the competition and competing in the "miss" division for the fist time. Rebecca Robinson is the new Miss Texas.
She is a wonderful choice to represent Texas. I know she will make our state proud! I can't wait to see all she provides
to the program. I enjoyed meeting so many new girls and building the relationships I already had. A friend of mine, Sydney,
won Miss Teen Texas. She is adorable! I am so excited for her!
Now all thats left is packing up for college! Thank
you for all of those who supported me! The complements, gifts, and love meant more to me than you can imagine. Thank You!
